The Cumberland Trails Conference (CTC) continues to offer no cost classes on trail building. This time the CTC joins with the Fairfield Glade Trail Builders for this hands on introduction to the fundamentals of building sustainable trails. You will learn from Certified Master Trail Builders.
This six hour class covers everything from corridor preparation to final grooming. Safety and proper tool handling are emphasized. Students will understand how water flow effects trail design and construction.
Students will learn how to cut a proper back slope, trail tread and create a critical edge on the out slope. Basic techniques such as shoulder armoring and creek step overs are covered as well.

Class size is limited. Directions and details will follow registration. Students must be healthy enough to handle trail construction work and carry tools. Students must bring sturdy shoes, water, bug spray, a hat, bandanna and gloves. Bring a bag lunch and snacks for lunch on the trail. This is a wilderness experience, so no port-o-potties. Minimum age – 15.
